Justice Ranjan Gogoi will be the Supreme Court's new CJI











New Delhi: President Ramnath Kovind has appointed Justice Ranjan Gogoi as the next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Justice Ranjan Gogoi will be sworn in as the 46th Chief Justice of Rashtrapati Bhavan on October 3. He will replace Deepak Mishra, the current Chief Justice retired on October 2.


Justice Ranjan Gogoi's tenure will be till 17th November 2019. Gandhi is on a holiday for 2 October. herefore Chief Justice Deepak Mishra will complete his work on the last day of the Supreme Court on October 1. Tell that, the Law Ministry had asked the name of his successor to Chief Justice Deepak Mishra as per the Supreme Court rule. Chief Justice is required to give a name before retirement,on which the President stamp it.

He wrote the letter to the central government and recommended the name of Justice Gogoi. Justice Gogoi is at the forefront of the judges' seniority. Justice Gogoi became the judge in the Supreme Court in 2012. For the first time since 68 years, Chief Justice is being formed in the Supreme Court for the first time in the Supreme Court.
